Mathias Frykholm

Mathias Frykholm is a self-taught artist who strives to paint “the beauty in the world in a realistic way”. He draws inspiration from the Swedish nature and environments that surround him. Mathias’s studio is based in Hammarö in Värmland in Sweden which close to Lake Vänern. Many of his paintings depict the beautiful surroundings of the lake and often his figurative works show the interaction between nature and man.

“Often I paint a woman in the motif, interacting with the environment. I find the bond between human and nature strong and special. And the Nordic nature is so powerful and beautiful.”

He prefers working on a larger scale so that the viewer is fully absorbed by the composition with small, intricate details that make the painting come to life. Mathias captures a high level of realism in his paintings and the craftsmanship, brushstrokes, colour and textural details are highly refined and beautiful to observe.

Mathias has established himself as highly sought after contemporary painter with his works found in both private and public collections.
