Catherine Ludeau
From the age of 4, Parisienne born artist Catherine Ludeau knew that she would be an artist. She found harmony at an early age filling her childhood with drawing and painting. As a teenager, Catherine joined the Applied Arts rue du Petit-Thouars in Paris, with a specialisation in textile and wallpaper design. She was especially drawn to nature and insects.
At the end of the 70s, Catherine’s career led her to illustrate for high end magazines and fashion designer. She spent three years in New York where she mixed with some of the creatives of the time; Andy Warhol, Paul Morrissey or Lou Reed.
When she returned to Paris, her focused turned to creating works in watercolours inspired by nature until 2000, when she rented a workshop at the Château de Santeny. Here, Catherine began painting abstract works in oil painting and eleven years later she discovered and began her creative practice working with resin.
Catherine continues to explored her interested in nature and natural form through her abstract resin works,
‘Having the ability to express myself in the registers that matter to me, embodying the thousand characters who are part of a woman. In my universe I am my instinct, my femininity are the shapes and colours that make up my paintings.’
Her work continues to be inspired by the philosophy of Zen which expresses serenity, balance, wellbeing and mindfulness. The simplicity of her composition and elegant fragility of the resin on linen creates the most sublime collaboration of materials.
The proud to represent the painting of Catherine Ludeau exclusively in the Nordics.
